Brandon McFarland is a senior associate with Willamette Management Associates in the Atlanta office.
Brandon has performed various types of valuation and economic analyses, including merger and acquisition valuations, business and stock valuations, litigation disputes, damages analyses, Internal Revenue Service disputes, and gift and estate tax valuations.
He has prepared these valuation and economic analyses for the following purposes: commercial litigation; transaction pricing and structuring; taxation planning and compliance (including federal income, charitable gift, and estate tax); bankruptcy; shareholder disputes; marital dissolution; and other controversy, tax, corporate, and shareholder transaction related matters.
Brandon has experience in the valuation of various types of business entities and interests, including: private family-owned businesses, private multiple-investor businesses, publicly-traded companies, preferred and common stock in complex capital structures, secured and unsecured notes, options and other derivative interests, general and limited partnership interests, limited liability company membership interests, limited company interests, S corporation interests, professional practices, and joint ventures.
He has performed business valuations in the following industries: software, technology, specialty chemicals, heavy construction, manufacturing, communications, retail, distribution, business services, real estate, pharmaceuticals, steel, agriculture, alternative energy and green technology, among others.
Brandon has significant experience in many areas of business valuation. Over the past 12 years, he has served as a consultant with a valuation firm, an investment bank, an asset manager, and as an associate at a venture capital firm. In addition, he has interned at both an investment bank and research firm where he performed sell side merger and acquisition and equity research analyses. As a consultant Brandon served as an advisor and valuation professional to institutions and family offices. As a venture capital associate, Brandon performed research of late stage investments in private companies, monitored existing portfolio companies, and performed recapitalizations of limited partnership interests.
Brandon has worked in the financial sector since 2006. Prior to joining Willamette Management Associates, Brandon was a valuation consultant at the Griffing Group, a financial consultant to Deutsche Bank, an investment consultant at Guggenheim Investments, and a venture capital associate at Advanced Equities (a late stage venture capital firm). He has also interned as an analyst at EdgePoint Capital (a sell-side investment bank) and an equity research analyst at Northcoast Research.
